Petrol problems

We bought a W202, C200 1997 Merc.
Everthing was fine. Then the car start to missfire and the engin shuts down when we gou slow or it has to idle. Afyer new petrol pump and filter...everything was fine. 2 days later it just **** down on the road. Now we have to put in petrol, all the time. The guage shows half and when we throw in it goes up but we have to keep throwing in for the car to go....

Yes, I find the same too. It seems to me that I can do 4 journeys before I need to add more petrol. At well over £100 a tank that makes expensive trips considering most are very local to me.

Check the fuel filter in the tank ,they get blocked up and this restricts the fuel presure

Does the W202 have "saddle bag" fuel tanks , if so it is possible that whatever transfers the fuel from on to the other is not working , so you have one full tank and you only get the driving range from the other , essentially the car can only use half the capacity of onboard fuel.

Your fuel gauge still showing half full but the car running out of fuel would support the above , possibly.

Yes the 202 has saddle tanks. As above is a possibility.
