Hi folks,

Aquired my first Mercedes vehicle with 230,000 km on the clock. Spend a fortune on repair bills already for i was not technically inclined when i bought the vehicle! Anyway would appreciate if any kind soul could advise me on the following:

1)Was travelling at only 150 km/h with full trottle and the vehicle can't seem to be able to move beyond that speed.

2)When over taking at 120 km/h , there was no kickdown. Had a hard time overtaking and almost collided with the vehicle coming from the opposite direction! Is there anything wrong with my gear box?

3)When climbing a hill , the speed would decrease even with full trottle.

In all instances, ultimately the rpm would increase after a period of time depressing fully on the acclerator. Please advise what could be done to have better accleration and better top speed! :(

Thank you very much and do have a nice week ahead! :) [/i]

Where to start, this could be anything!

Start cheap, then move on to expensive, that has to be the way.

Check the compression on the engine, does it use oil? When did you last have a general tune up? plugs, leads, rotor arm etc...

Next time the gearbox doesn't want to change down, try pulling the shift lever and force it into 2nd or 1st. If that works, then perhaps the kickdown cable, isn't working correctly.

The general lack of power could be down to fuel starvation, when did you last change the filter? Is the fuel pump getting noisier?

All you can do is hypothesise and test, there will be no quick fix.

Firstly check that the throttle is going fully open when the pedal is pressed to the floor.
