Thames Valley Police Collision Investigation Unit is trying to trace a vehicle which we believe was involved in a fatal hit and run collision.
We are looking for a blue C220 CDi four door saloon WR03JYB.
VIN WDC 203 066 2R 094960
Engine number 611 962 306 266 88
It may still have damage to the front nearside. Have you had this vehicle offered to you? Does it ring a bell in any way?
A fragment of padding which we strongly suspect to be from part number 203 885 03 37 was left at the scene of the collision.
This is a section of black polystyrene from within the front nearside corner of the bumper.
Our problem is the format of the date stamp on the part we have found.
The part left behind has the date of manufacture shown as a grid with small dots to indicate a date.
It seems that this date stamp format may be quite rare, as the standard part for Mercedes shows its date of manufacture as a clock face.
The fragment we have found looks like photo1, note the grid on the left. The intact Mercedes part is photo2, with its clock face marker.
We are speaking to Mercedes, but in the mean time we know that what your membership doesn’t know about Mercedes is not worth knowing!
Any help would be in strict confidence.
Thanks,
Steve Moffat
Collision Investigator
