I have recently bought a '98 C250 estate... I reckon I'm getting about 30mpg on a combined cycle... This seems a bit poor to me, I don't know when the car was last serviced, would changing the fuel filter improve this... If so, does anyone know how to do this job? Or even if the fuel economy is particularly poor!

Thanks

Air filters and fuel filters (there are 2) may help, depends whether they are clogged. More likely is if your tyres are deflated - you can't always tell by looking and it is often free to check at a filling station.

I would expect high 30's.
