Potential E-Class Owner and Spec Question?

Hi all,

Happy to be here, looks like a great community - hoping to pick up an E Class with Driving Assistance and Prem Plus to ensure my comfort whilst doing more miles over the next year or two. I always enjoy active forums associated with cars I own, so great to meet you all here.

Sorry to ask a question that might get me off on the wrong foot, but I have found a car and am struggling to confirm the presence of the Driving Assistance pack - despite what looks like some elements included.

It's a 2019 E-Class with VIN = WDD2130232A606357.

I've rang MB who declined to comment on spec, and I've used a VIN decoder. The car APPEARS to have Prem Plus (can see Burmester, mem and keyless go, headlights, sunroof etc) but the DA pack is a mystery. The seller is claiming it does NOT have distronic, but the spec seems to show Pre-Safe, Blind Spot Assist and 8U6 - Steering Wheel Takeover which based on the MB brochure, I understand were only part of the DA pack.

Is it worth me taking the risk of a wasted journey to go and test the car and see if the Distronic comment is an error? Based on the VIN above (checked on MB.vin) do you guys think this car has Driving Assistance?

For clarity, Distronic is what I really want. I'm looking for the ultimate in safety, automation and assistance. I'd also say comfort, but finding a car with air suspension, Prem Plus AND DA seems impossible so air suspension can go!!

Get the MB VIN Decode App on your phone, it is a blue square with VD in white in the middle, you can then email the spec to yourself

Good suggestion, just tried and MB VIN decode can't see the vin. Also have got the output of a decoder (as per OP) but struggling to interpret it

Have you looked at the "All Terrain" version, they are fully loaded

I hadn't - but have now. There's not many! I will keep them as an option for sure.

As a visual guide (a bit crude I know) the front grill star has a blocked out plastic centre when the car is fitted with distronic

That’s weird - I did have to try a few and occasionally (inc the VD app) it throws back nothing.

Looking at the star on the grill it doesn’t have distronic you shouldn’t be able to see the grill mesh between the 3 pointed star - unless of course they have changed the location of the radar which I don’t think they have

The grill badge on that car is not the distronic type.

You can get all of these on a C Class as well unless you really need the E Class?

Yep, thanks folks - I think I’d concluded as much but good to have it confirmed. No idea how a car seems to have so much of the DA pack (and ver advertised with it) but not have distronic! Mental.

I’m not against the C Class, though was looking to increase the comfort factor and create some separation from this and my weekend car (which is a Focus RS Edition.)

I had also thought (wrongly it seems) that the E Class would be more likely to have a high spec build. Very few appear to have DA/Distronic, sadly.

This car has distronic you can see that the Mercedes star in the grill has centre filled which the radar sits behind

Another advantage of a C Class with Premium Plus, Driver/Memory package etc etc, is it will most likely have 4 matic as well.

Keep patient searching the for the right car. The longer you search then you will get a better idea of options/packages vis a vis price, There will then come a point when you know exactly which is the right car.
