power aerial problems

hi folke just a newby here just bought a mint condition 380sel luv it the previous owner installed a radio so when ignition is turned on aerial goes down when turnned of aerial goes down in other words never goes up you can hear the motor working for the aerial so any ideas

Get a new arial!

It is probably "frozen", the elements stick together because of not used for a while or old age, maybe it is bent as well? WD40 might do the the trick, but your better off with a new one.

I got one in my local motorfactor's for 52 Euros, took me half an hour to fit and I am a happy man now!

As above, if you can hear the motor, it's probably jammed. The motor has a clutch in it so if the mast is jammed, the motor will still run which is why you can hear it.
The ariels are normally made by Hirchman and you can get new masts for them. Try the dealer, they're not expensive.
