Welcome. From previous posts on this topic, I do not belive you will cause damage not waiting for the glow lights to extinguish, but on cold days it will simply take a few extra cranks to fire up. I would suggest this will over a very long term cause extra wear on the starter and if your battery is on it's last legs on a winters day it wont do it any favours.
I have a E320 cdi and wait for the glow to go out (about 3/4 secs) and use the time to put on the seat belt...so you're not actually waiting.
