Ah yes probably it was on the coupes that I looked at. Does the sedan have semi automatic gears?Hello and welcome
Are any of them coupes or convertibles? If so they were based on the C-class floor plan which had the shifter on the transmission tunnel. The saloons and estates have it on the steering binnacle
No, Automatic 7GAh yes probably it was on the coupes that I looked at. Does the sedan have semi automatic gears?
So there's no shifter or lever to be able to shift gears when I choose ?No, Automatic 7G
Yes, most will have paddles of the flappy verity - although why have a dog and bark is beyond me…So there's no shifter or lever to be able to shift gears when I choose ?
What about w212 ??Got both options on my W204, think the C207 does as well
Didn't quite get what you meant here , so the w212 sedan doesn't seem to have the center shifter so does it have something on the steering wheel to shift manually ?Yes, most will have paddles of the flappy verity - although why have a dog and bark is beyond me…
The centre shift usually have a +/- if no paddles so you can go up or down the box.

Cool got it, so all w212s have the paddles to be able to manually shift ?The W212 is the E Class Saloon and Estate and have a column shifter with paddles on the back of the steering wheel
The C / A 207 is the E Class Coupe and Convertible and based on the W204 C Class chassis which is why they have a gear knob in the centre console as well as paddles on the steering wheel.
is this on all w212s or only some ?Flappy paddles on the steering wheel
Do they all have the paddles ?I think I’ve just the paddles twice - as above why keep a dog and bark yourself. I suppose they might be useful for track days but who tracks an E class unless it’s the AMG variety
I've not driven many W211's but the ones I have, all had the flappy paddles - there will always be a way to hold a gear or go up and downCool got it, so all w212s have the paddles to be able to manually shift ?

So you can't actually drive it how you want to then. Like if you want to get the full power out of it and change just before redline the gearbox won't allow it? So then you can't actually use the car to its potential it's like it's limited.I've not driven many W211's but the ones I have, all had the flappy paddles - there will always be a way to hold a gear or go up and down
However Mercedes gearboxes will override your input if it thinks you're doing something it doesn't like. They will change up when you want to hold it in gear to stop it over-revving and they'll change down if they think the gear you're asking for is going to labour the engine.
You can but not like a sports car (I have a 911 and that will stay in gear and bang off the rev limiter until you change up)So you can't actually drive it how you want to then. I have a Volvo S40 d5 , I like it but is old now and want something about newer and betterYou can but not like a sports car (I have a 911 and that will stay in gear and bang off the rev limiter until you change up)
An E350cdi is a wonderful place to spend many hours of peaceful and comfortable driving - you can embarrass many from the lights if you want to but why on earth would you? You're sat in a Mercedes you've already won...
What are you driving at the moment?
