I am fitting an electric fan kit to my car, and whilst about it flushing the cooling system a installing a new MB thermostat (the last one is a bit dodgey it cost £3.75 MB is £12.50!!) my question is does anybody know what tempreture it opens? i need to know this to set the temp for the electric fan to cut in only when the thermostat is open fully.

thanks:cool:

seems a bit cool to me the current one opens when the needle is almost at 120 degrees, then runs with the needle at just below the 80 degree mark, and most modern engines need to run at 95-100 degrees to run at there most efficiant. i will give the dealer a call.

thanks

Your Mercedes
2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
On MB's that have both, the electric fan comes in at 100c

i think i will set mine at 96 degrees. this combined with the new thermostat should give me a more even temp. for the record the fan kit is £139 delivered.
