Hi, I’m looking at a 1986 R107 registered on 1/3/86. A couple of questions
1 - would this be the last variant of the R107 (1986-1989)
2 - the following comments were noted on the last MOT, should I buy and what would be the approx cost to get fixed by a specialist?
Thanks for viewing

Hi and welcome,

No idea of costs but that list doesn’t look too bad.
I think the problem may be in sourcing the parts needed.

Meat and drink jobs for a decent indy.
Steering rack could be expensive - if thats the cause of play.
The rust issue would need new metal - Good body shops can get repair panels.
If your CV are shot beyond the covers - then you may well need new shafts.

If I was you, get yourself to an indy and ask for a price. Some things of course he cant quote out seeing the car!

Only you can decide if you should purchase it given its condition, your ability, what support you have from nearby garages.

The biggest issues with cars of that age are rust (really important to keep on top of it) and parts availability (and because of scarcity parts prices).

Basic servicing is easy. Oil, filters, spark plugs is all you need of most of the time.

Pffttg how long is a piece of string.
Many factors, your budget, how much cost to get the car how you like and fixed, part availability (gen MB or cheap - your call), have you a good merc indy nearby,

if its your dream car, and you have the cash - go for it, you only live once!
