Following my change to using Shell Optimax I've been keeping a tally on the mpg I get with my R170 230K. Someone asked to post, so here's the update. Note I had only had the car for a week or two prior to "week 1".
Week 1: Tesco regular: 25.64 mpg (mostly in Winter mode)
Week 2: Shell Optimax: 26.00 mpg (mostly in Winter mode)
Week 3: Shell Optimax: 24.29 mpg (mostly in Summer mode with a bit more confident driving!)
Alas I fell victim to a bit more power under my right foot!
I will continue with my tally and see if my mpg improves in Summer mode with a few more weeks of Optimax.
In a way I wish I'd bought the R170 320 (I've heard they're a bit more fuel efficient), but I'm otherwise exceptionally happy with my 230K.
