Does anyone know if I can replace just the sleeve of these units? The sleeve of rear offside unit on my SL500 has developed 2 small splits in the "bellows" part.

No, sorry. The individual parts aren’t available, only the assembly.

A quick google search brought these up.

the ones listed for the w220/215 may fit, they are just dust covers. I imagine a couple of jubilee clips or cable ties would suit?

Or does anyone know of a good rubber cement (like the stuff used on universal UJ gaiters) - its super sticky, and super flexible, I imagine sting smeared around the gaiter would work to keep dust etc out until such times as you can research and get suitable gaiters.

maybe search rubber gaiters with the internal diameter requirements - they are probably available for other applications.

Temp repair for £5.28 ?

give gaiter a thorough clean and wipe with acetone to remove any oils before using any sealant/glue.

The bellows are available from MB I have recently replaced both rears on mine They were around £ 40 each. You have to remove the strut to replace them. They are held on with a stainless ring at either end. Any problems locating them just let me know so I can search for the receipts and part numbers.

Many thanks Wizzman. I have the local MB outfit order one for me. I will probably sub contract the fitting!

Did they do you a good price? I was just thinking when I did mine and the job turned into a 4 month rebuild of the back suspension. Then lock down came...... nightmare

£40 for the sleeve. I've gone to Merc Specialist near Chichester who quote 3 & half hrs labour so about £300 all in.

Ouch!
I think you can change without removing strut. Simply depressurise the system (bleed screw), undo the bottom, slide old one down (after cutting retainers) and slide new one up and fit new retainers.

Not sure if there is room to get your hand up to fit the top retainer ring. I removed the strut anyway to paint the inside of the strut tower that had a bit of scale on it. My O/S strut was the one that failed anyway so that was coming off regardless.
