R230 Central Locking /boot soft close not working

That is even more odd. I shall have a thought
Just checked when doors are locked manually with key fuel fill cap can be opened also all cubby boxes stay open ie can be opened manually .
Going to check fuses again tomorrow as weather is poor now.
I have ordered pump from MB Edinburgh (E bay shop) coming this week and having indie fit next week,unless I can find another problem that is causing the fault,then I can return the pump just have to pay return delivery.

Have you tried pulling the fuse for a minute, then retrying boot. It’s a common fault with soft close on boot.

That definitely suggests there is insufficient vacuum/air from the pump.
One possible cause is if the pump impeller has broken up - there are eBay kits for this.

I'm afraid I don't buy the pump - the answer was in the whirring noise. I have three R230s, four pumps and when it went, it went - no "gave it a tap and I get a whirring noise for a second" 'cos they all blew the fuse. If it hadn't been for that one fact I would agree! Time will tell ;-)

I thought about trying to do this,but not sure how complicated.The pump impeller kit is £180 .I have the details of the guy who repairs them,but decided to go with a new pump with a 2yr warranty.
I will keep you posted on my progress.

Its not just the boot soft close that is not working its the central locking and lumbar function as well.
Will try this anyway thanks.

Thanks, sometime do go to beginning of thread.
Its not just the boot soft close that is not working its the central locking and lumbar function as well.

Ok checked fuse again today it was a 25A that was fitted and ot had blown which is strange because when I initially checked it was ok,dont if it was when ive been checking the pump in the boot.
Anyway replaced fuse and it didnt blow but still no c/ locking etc

Indie fitted new pump yesterday all sorted everything back to normal £30 to fit and code

The 25A fuse blowing is a common symptom of a failed pump.

Glad you got it sorted.

is therenot a coupling in the pse pump? if so maybe that failed and motor is running ,driving nothing . or has it just disintigrated internaly . everytime i go out ,i hold my breath suspect plenty R23 owners do same. i am looking at marlin or YCK roadster for summer,simple driving .do my biggles impression with lovelly and mut!

I think the impeller self destructs internally and jams the pump. From memory they're made from graphite so as to be self lubricating.

as seen my keyboard at times dont display e letter i press.wot to do, however most got the idea.....
if its alraedy screwed ,nothin to loose by interviewing it,sometimes much to gain. go for it .
