Sadly, my R230 must be an early victim of the economic downturn. I thought I'd keep this car forever, but it turns out I no longer have the resources. I've never loved a car so dearly and it'll be gut-wrenching to watch it drive away, but needs must. I'll post the ad in the appropriate section, probably later today.

We have our health and that's it's own kind of wealth. The money has just walked away.

Best wishes and good health to all.

Just remember what they say: As one door closes, another opens.
Best of luck... you'll be missed.

Sorry to hear that, I’d moth ball it if at all possible, SORN and even cancel the insurance (assuming you have safe parking / garage)

Sad to see and I sincerely hope that the situation soon turns around for you.

completely get u .. i hated shifting mine ,but a grain of common tells u to do so .unless yr on an indexed linked pension/income even storing them at home will cost you loads . i tried it . so i bought something much ,much simpler ,even that needed new starter (fortunately only 90 euro ) when i got back 2 weeks ago, it was fine when i left ?? i interviewed it , opened it, cleaned it up ,bench tested it , put back ,still no good even taking leads direct and separate lead to solenoid , eng turns by hand easy but starter wont carry load .. how? why? sods f law i guess, but i did try to wriggle ..

You must be gutted..... :( Is it your only car or only Merc?

It's our only Merc. My wife has a five yr old Astra GTC and I've run my Dad's old Peugeot 206 through the winters. The Merc has been my summer toy. I'll sell the Peugeot too and hang on to the Astra. We've had it from new and it's been a reliable motor.

As BC above, I would try to find a way of keeping it if at all possible. It is a nice car and you seem to like it.
Sadly it may not fetch too much in the current market either but

Best of luck either way.

Sorry to see a r230 owner sell and worse of all, leave our forum.
Our 500 has basically been mothballed as of September last year though in November I tried to sell it to Nic on here but he wanted a 55
The 500 may become a garden ornament though we'll see what happens at the beginning of summer.

Nah, got one of those already............the 500 don't leak, it just crates condensation and rains in the boot......Which comes to mind, must check it for rare tropical plants....

So sorry to read this Mac, I completely understand and relate to your sadness, although in my case the car problem is what's making the money run out the door or, so it seems.

Still, as you say, at least you still have your health, cars, even much loved ones, can be replaced when circumstances change.

I wish you and yours all the best, regards Jimbo.

As above, sorry to hear the SL has to go. Hopefully you'll hang around on the forum just for the social side of it.
Wish you well with the sale but if you can, hold on for a few months. I can't see it fetching much at the moment.

Sorry to hear this I hope your situation soon improves but as you say what is more important than your health cars can be replaced.

My daughter has just come off NHS shift and said that one of the midwives on her ward has been sent home with C-19 challenging times indeed.

Like others, sorry to hear this
But as said, is now really the time?
Anyway cars are just metal in the end (sacrilege I know), better times will come
