Rear LSD on Merc W124 E280

Help!

I think my LSD is broken.

It's not kicking in like it did when I first got it and for some unknown reason today, whilst turning right into a junction, I lost the back end completely and instinctively released the throttle.

Not sure what's up here. Someone said I should hear the knock from it kicking in.

I went on an icy car park to see if it was working and there was no knocking or anything. Not like it used to :(

ABS and an LSD (No warning lights for ASD or ASR).

Dad's 300TE24 had the orange triangle light on the speedo, so I know that mine hasn't got TC.

I didn't know they made any W124s with a mechanical LSD but it wouldn't surprise me if there were a few about

If it's a mechanical LSD and it's no longer locking up I suspect it'll need to be rebuilt with new clutches. Some people will quote you silly money but mechanical LSDs are relatively straightforward and, assuming parts are available, I would expect anyone who can build a BMW 2002 / E30 / E36 / 635 CSi / Ford Atlas / etc diff could build a Mercedes one
