not saying any of this will help but a few ideas...
depending on your location your home TV will likely support PAL & NTSC, I believe all Merc RFKs are NTSC and the comand only supports a NTSC video signal (USA rubbish)
on LostKiwi's post I believe he's suggesting on some units, you may need to toggle to an Aux video input to get the comand screen to display a signal coming in to the unit.... on a given unit a TV button may or may not do anything
