Have a 99 CLK320 which didn't drive for a long time. As such several malfunctions appeared which seem to have corrected themselves now. But there is now a rev limiter operating. Anyone know a simple way to reset this, or is it a trip to the mechnanic?

Thanks, Luke

Not quite clear on your post, but if the power output is down the MAF could have packed up

Thanks Malcolm.
I am fairly sure there is some rev limitation taking place perhaps through the computer. Power at normal driving is not unusual - everything behaves as it should with reasonable acceleration. If you accelerate hard the vehicle doesn't respond and to the contrary it will slow down. If parked and is revved up it will go to around 4,000 before kicking in with the familiar rev limitation type behaviour and won't go past that.

Hi Malcolm.
This car has done 64,000 mls. Took out the MAF and it looks like new. No oil or carbon or bugs. Very clean. Still replace it do you think?

Me again.
I also have an E230 so took the MAF from that (after checking it had the same part number) and swapped them. Alas, no change and the E230 still runs OK. Any other suggestions?
regards, Luke

Still sounds like MAF - or poss a blocked exhaust. As for the rev limiter @ 4000 out of gear, it's supposed to, so no problems there.
