Hi,
I think you,ll find most extras you mentioned will fit with little hassle but locating the information, pt. no. etc parts like wiring looms especially the smaller looms may be hard as I finding wiring looms obsolete even on the w202 and thats newer than the w124.
Keep me posted I would be interested in what you find out/do.

Anybody with a CLK, 1998 onwards W210 E Class, and W202 C Class, fancy Auto dimming RVM just plug and play, found this on E-Bay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MERCEDES-E-CL...VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247

Thanks, i guess the trick is to try to get the breakers to remove the item with as much loom intact as possible .
Does that 210 RVM have a differant mounting point to the 124 ? wonder if it would be possible to take the mirror apart and use the mounting off of mine ?
Richard.

I maybe wrong but if you have red & green L.E.D.'s in you RVM the pre face lift w202 auto dimming RVM maybe a straight swap.
You could try to find an accident damaged or MOT failure car and take the bits off in your own time.

It will involve fitting a loom, and a switch and obviously the folding mirrors themselves.
Fitting the switch you will either have to cut out for or get a new gear selector surround if you send me a e-mail via the site i,ll send you the work sheet on how to do it.

Hi,
To fit dimming in your car (as long as you have,nt got red & green L.E.D.'s in your existing mirror this correct).
Remove your existing mirror, remove the over head lnterior light cluster, fit the new dimming mirror routing its cable through the headlining and out of the interior light cluster headlining mounting hole, the mirror plugs directly into the overhead light cluster, replace light cluster.
To test ensure the car is not in reverse, interior lights are not on, and the cars lights are switched on, cover the sensor on the windscreen side of the mirror, and shine a torch on the sensor on the glass, the glass should now visibly dim.
Whole job should take no more than 15-20 minutes.
If you need any more pics or more explanation let me know and i,ll take some pics of mine for you.

This mirror is the one you need, your mirror will be black (i think) but the grey will not stand out as your sun visors and headlining are similar in colour (if its the same as mine).
Don,t worry about it being an E class mirror it will fit a w202, they are the same.
Puddle lights you need to make two small looms (original looms not available from MB anymore) remove the door card, and connect them to the door control unit route them down to the bottom door, remove light fitting blank in bottom of door card replace door card routing new cables out of the puddle light hole in the door card and connect to new light fitting.
I can give you more details if you require them.

Andy,
Thanks for info, that is most helpful. If you could send more details on exactly where to connect the wires for the puddle lights, that would be great. Thanks.
Steve.

Hi Steve,
That mirror will do the job, though I have,nt got a clue where the microphone plugs into it must go straight to the hands free kit.
You got a bargain there.
Do you still want to know about the Puddle lights?

Hi Andy,

If you could let me know about the puddle lights, that would be great. I have a 1990 w124 300te sat on the drive with puddle lights installed in it, do you know if they will fit in the W202, I can't check as the car is with the mechanic at the moment.
Thanks,
Steve.

Hi,
As your C class is post 97, your puddle lights are wired into the door control unit.
To fit puddle lights it is a simple matter of removing your door card the cables go to pins 1 and 5 of the existing plug on the door control unit, then route the cables down to the light fitting. The light fitting fits in the bottom of the door card after the small blank panel is removed.
Parts needed as below:-
A 008 545 55 26 : contact bushing : x2 (for pins 1 and 5 of the door control unit).
A 202 540 69 08 : cable harness : x2 (I think these harnesses may now be obsolete but they are only 2 lengths of approx. 2ft. cable per door with push on connectors for the lights).
A 126 820 13 01 : interior lamp : x2
N 072601 012130 : bulb : x2

Any more info needed let me know.

Hi Andy, I am interested in fitting a RVW with ambient light to my 1998 C250 Sport. As far as I know some E-Classes come with this as standard, would it be easy to do?

Cheers

Hi,
I take it you mean auto dimming rear view mirror (ambient light was never an option on a 202).
On your car it is just plug and play, you need to remove your mirror and light console, the new AD mirror just plugs into the light console.
The mirrors can be bought off of e-bay, below is a link to a couple.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. No, that's what I mean, is it possible to fit a mirror from a later model that has the ambient light? It's mainly the light I'm after, auto-dip would be an added bonus
