Hi, I have a 2001 Vito 110cdi van and I am having trouble in selecting reverse gear, I have tried adjusting the cables but that didn't work, I guess it must be something else any ideas anyone?
Forward gears are fine.
Thanks.
Assuming it's manual, my general experience is that the clutch spring is weak. Try it with the engine off and that'll tell you; if you can select reverse with the engine off, then the clutch is suspect, if you can't, then it may be the 'box.
The gearbox is a five speed manual, I have tried selecting reverse with the engine off but I am still getting trouble, (sometimes I can select reverse ok and other times a lot more difficult) although there is a lot of play in the weighted arm (the shorter type) on top of the gearbox.
