Hi all,

Firstly, if any of you have owned the car above it would be really appreciated if you could give any advice - negative or positive - on buying and owning.

I know nothing about these cars and am considering buying one with no more than 75k ish miles ( around £11k - £12k ).

Secondly, could you please give me an idea where to look for an online review ( with the exception of Parkers )

Thanks in advance

Mark :)

Check.....

Air conditioning...weak point with Mercs and very expensive.

Door window operation, another one, make sure the electric windows work properly and test each one of them.

Listen for knock when driving.....drop links but not too expensive. I did read somewhere about anti roll bar problems and modifications.

History is important so get one, make sure its genuine if its MBSH, get receipts if you can.

Make sure bulbs are all working, especially inside dash as they are tricky to replace.

Check brake disks for wear, could be near end of life.

Look out for signs of water leakage, I know a few CLKs have let in water from blocked drainholes.

Check suspension too and listen out for knocks from that....

Get the car in the air and give a good look underneath for fluid leaks.

MAKE SURE YOU GET THE TWO REMOTE KEYS AND THE MECHANICAL KEY. IF YOU DONT THEN SOMEONE MAY HAVE A KEY TO YOUR CAR!! If you are not getting two keys get a new one and get the ignition reprogrammed.....at vendors cost. If the other key were used to steal the car you may have an uninsured loss...small print may only cover theft where the car has been broken into or where the keys have been stolen by burglary.

Look carefully at the body too...alignment of panels, under bonnet etc for dodgy repairs. Look under door rubbers etc for rust.

Engine may need a look at.....not my scene though.

If things dont work, remember they are very expensive to replace!!
