Hi guys,
Have a new issue today...dropped the roof as per normal and it went down but didn't say Roof Down to complete its cycle. When I went to close the roof it gets to where everything is closed and just the windows need to go up that little bit but thats where it stays...you can hear the mechanism still going but it just stays saying 'In Operation' with the roof symbol displayed.
I've looked at all the gaps around the boot and they all look fine...

But this means all the windows are slightly open (stay the same position when manually trying them)
It also means I cannot get into the boot...!

HELP...!!

Try fully opening the roof with engine running.

Fully drop the windows and lift them up again.

Now try closing roof and see if window drop issue is resolved.

I am afraid that is all I can suggest from my experience with the R231 model.

On my vdoz the driver passenger side rear windows would sometimes not fully close turned out to be switch under door post locks. Open door hold switch in windows fully close. Micro switches seem of doubtful quality often misbehaving, also yr batt in good order.. R230 gives many headaches from low batt..

Broken wire in where the roof folds?
Had the exact problem on our 500 as you have. It took my Mechanic quite a while to trace this fault. It was repaired but had a big bill
Yes right down to not being able to get the boot lid open.

Hi guys, sorry to confuse....I don't have a window problem...its the roof not closing...

So normal roof closure operation is that when you first operate the roof switch it 1) drops all the windows a smidge; 2) boot lid comes open; 3) roof comes out and over; 4) boot lid comes down; 5) your hear everything lock down; 6) finally the windows go up that smidge and system says 'Roof closed' .....job done.

But when I do it in my car, everything is the same as above until 6) where the windows go up and the systems says Roof closed.

It just stays at 'In operation' and you can hear the mechanism whirring away...so the windows are still down a smidge and it won't let me get in the boot. I have to just have to leave it in that state...

Hope that is clearer... :)

Yep same with ours ;)
It would open okay, close okay but the motor kept werring and the windows stayed open that smidgen.

I think if I remember rightly the break was in the n/s rear C pillar

FOR SALE
MERCEDES SL600
PERFECT CONDITION
IDEAL FOR SUMMER DAYS ONLY

:):)

To be fair my indy was given a blank canvas to start off with, so maybe it will be cheaper for you knowing that a good place to start would be the roof where the folds.

Bet you'd have no difficulty selling your SL600 ;)

Hopefully it will cheaper...if they actually listen... :)

And won't be selling it...its the ultimate sleeper car...and apparently there's only 300 in UK (100 of those are SORN'd)....

Good luck. Had a beauty v doz bi-turbo myself. Loved it. Knew it would bite me at some point at 62 had some lovely runs but needed lfe to get less complex not more. So... Wot I do? Buy ml250 complete with another suitcase of Dtf!! Hope I don't regret that to much??
Go with checking continuity of wires as suggested. If yr sparky pointed in right area should know in about an hr.
By the way tidy sl600 r230 sell themselfs. Sold mine to first guy who came, bit my hand off and pretty much what I paid for it six yr earlier.
