Roof not working CLK 200

My hood on my CLK 200' 2000 model stopped working when was half way down' called roadside recovery and manually put it down for me but couldn't get it to close. left it at my local garage who couldn't do anything with it and advised take to a guy that deals with merc's. I drove there and charged me £72 to put up manually for a 3 - 4 mins job. The windows go down automatically as they should when hood switch is lifted up and lights up red which I understand means the front sensors are whatever there called are working ok' any idea's ??? Ps I'm in Blackpool. Thanks DJALAN
