Well, the thought did cross my mind to check and loosen the plug slightly, but i didn't, and went on and run engine for 10mins with Wynn's engine flush for diesels, It states not to be driven with this in. Bugger, the drain plug nut was rounded, made worse by me! So, i called around and eventually found autostore that sells oil pump which removes the oil via the dipstick, has anyone done it this way before? Will it remove sludge? I suppose it will have to do till i get car to garage.

Many garages use pumps now to remove the oil from the sump and gearboxes.
its better than nothing. Have you tried a hammer an chisel to remove the plug, not one thats too sharp so that it cuts off bits of the plug, one hard blow is worth more than pulling on a spanner "shock"

I'll try that, the plug is so small though.

This is a perfectly acceptable way to remove the old oil when doing an oil change. This is how it's done in many garages as it saves time and is the norm in the US.
Also how the oil is removed in boat engines as there is no clearance under the sump.

You still have to remove your plug though or was you planning on leaving it.

Try a pair of small stilsons!

Well, since it is advised not to drive it with the cleaner in, i was just querying the dipstick method, so i can drive it to garage. But then i would have new oil in and wouldn't want it out really till next change.

You do have a kind of catch 22,leave the plug till next time, try and do it in the summer, its a bit more fun:D

I wouldn't like to have that plug stuck in there.

I'd get the drill on it, and then an easyout in there.

Make sure you buy a new one and washer first though :)

I use a Sealey vacuum pump and it works well. The oil was nice and clear for ages after last oil change. Run engine til engine is hot though.

Top advice.

File some flats on it and whack a slightly smaller socket on to it. (I think a 1/2" A/F works well) Then buy a new one!

Get a pair of Stillsons -- adjustable pipe wrench that plumbers use -- as yopu apply pressure it grips tighter. Make sure that you are turning the correct direction. I have seen people when lying on their back under a car trying to undo bolts the wrong way!
