yesterday i run out of diesel for the second time.
the guage reads between quarter and empty and the light does not come on.

is this a straightforward renew fuel guage sender unit inside fuel tank or should i be investigating another roed.

Most MB's are the same, you can gain access under mat in rear, do not try it with full tank, if full take 10 liters out, wait till half full. take off electric plug and unscrew large nut, and that's it

hmmm...

I thought the light bit was a seperate thing from the sender unit.

I used to have problems with my sender unit but I could always count on the light.

Does the 'light', light up when you first turn on the ignition?

light does come on when ignition is switched on but never afterwards.
also the guage never reaches the full mark completely - and i always "fill it to the neck" - so i should renew the tank unit, i think.

thanks,

joe.
