Hi,
Problems with intermittent misfire with W plate S600.
Used to be after long drives when just overtaking it would misfire. Spent thousands on various work but fault always returns.
It now also misfires at low revs 30 Mph aswell as the original fault - so the fault has got worse...
Sensors, coils, stuff buried inside the monstrous engine at lots of labour cost has shown no improvement for more than a couple of weeks at a time.
The fault is intermittent anyway so its probably never been fixed.
Can anyone shed any light on this increasingly annoying and expensive problem.
Owned a Lexus LS400, similar fault was MAF sensor needed cleaning - such a simple job that could be done D.I.Y. at less than £10 and a few spare hours
250,000 miles and that Lexus engine was still in top condition.
Do Merc have mechanics anymore? Or are they just computer key tappers who know nothing about real engine fault finding?
Help!!!!!!!! They don't have a clue

We have another thread running on the same engine, time is short this weekend due to a meet coming up.

Welcome to the forum with your not such good news, we can go into it further next week, unless someone else joins in with some advice

You need to have the rocker covers off, theres a picture of the same as yours on my web site, mis-fire on number 6, no oil getting to number 6, tappit going soft, that would be my next move!

Smart + others :)
We have done several of these, 2 have been engine ecu's, one rubber inserts on the coil causing the injector to shut down after the management detects a number of misfires and one coil pack. Log it on to narrow the fault or it could be big bucks guessing.
