Niall, the moral of this story is

always be in the Mercedes in one of these situations. Just imagine how you'd feel if you'd have whacked (your) Merc as hard with a Ford. Not half as healthy i'd bet.

Nice car, quite right to be cross with whatever fate you choose to blame, but at the end of the day it's just a ( expensive) bit of metal. You and the other guy walked away to drive another day. That is really what matters.

thanks for all the kind words guys, ! well i started the process of getting it back in action today after work, and removed the side wing, it was very easy to do so, they sure made the cars easy to work with back then... and wow the headlight still worked under all the carnage heh

here's some photos of what I did today, the first photo is of the actual roadway where the accident happened, i drove that way today home from work.... you can make out the skid marks on the road if you look at the photo carefully...

the rest of the photos show the car with the wing removed and the great state that the car is in underneath the wing, there is some damage to the under steel frame but it looks fixable even for a novice like me,

cheers

Dead easy to do that, it must be tapped back all around the dent working from the outside on the dent and working in towards the middle, you have some clever guys in Sweden who will do that in no time,

Dont forget that the dent removal without damaging the paint is a Swedish concept

when you try a new front wing it will give you a better idea of what you need to do but it looks very fixable  and the bonnet will be fixable but tricky to get right ....good luck with it

When I put a wing on an old London Taxi, I put a bead of clear silicone on the join before I bolted the wing on, It makes sure no water can get in the join.

When in 1967 I think when the Swedes changed from RHD to LHD, to make it easier, the buses and lorries changed on the Sat, and the cars on the Sun

You could try this company here… http://www.mercedesrestoration.com/tdheaney.asp?id=about

Below is a quote from there web site
“The company also has a good relationship with a German supplier and can supply new and used parts for most classic Mercedes Benz at competitive prices, including the supply of original spec, leather interior kits and soft top hood kits direct from the manufacturer in Germany.”
