Hi

When it rains my 1991 230TE (KE-Jetronic) starts ok and runs for about a mile and then it is as if the throttle is suddenly closed. Tickover becomes rough and if the throttle is moved nothing much happens till it is fully open, then it revs up normally, this will overcome the problem for a short while then the problem returns.
Can any one advise.

Thanks

Sounds suspiciously like plug leads or plug caps shorting out. Have a look in the dark, if it happens, you will probably see arcing around the leads or caps. Motorcyclists are very familiar with that one.....so, a word of advice...dont dare touch thme when the engine is running.....or they will sort through you. Ouch. If the engine has been running unevenly for a few minutes you may be able to tell which one by checking temperature at the plug but watch for hot surfaces.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have looked at plug leads before when this was happening but sould not see or hear any flashover.
It does not seem to pick-up at all when you move the throttle until you reach full throttle, makes me wonder if it is fuel problem.
