Btw..Littlebrooklyn....if you partner only work's 10 min's away would it not be easier on him to walk to work, or is it maybe like dual carriage way or something the reason he doesn't.

Well Stulc although it's only a 10 minute drive I am sure Malcolm will back me up when I say that walking from Oxhey to Bushey village would probably take him about half an hour and he is on his feet ALL day, so I really can't begrudge him having the car.

Also it's no longer a Mercedes :(

Oh another couple of things that might help you with how you are feeling if it's stress related. It's really important to cut down on stimulants as these aggravate stress. So you really should try to cut out all caffeine, nicotine, alcohol and don't eat too much refined sugar. I know it sounds like all the nice things are the things you have to cut out, but it really does help.

it works for some

I was a 30 a day man, liked a pint, loved my sweets and mainlined extra-caffeineated coffee all- day long, and the numpties used to get my goat something rotten.
Now I get a pint of an evening, maybe, don't smoke, don't do coffee and the only sugar I see is the naturally occurring variety in fruit and berries (and the occasional biscuit at work).
The numpties haven't gone away though, there are even more of them than ever.
I just smile serenely as I waft past, or blow them a kiss as they hammer by on their road to hell. After all, I'd rather sit in my lovely Merc(s) or the Skoda, with its heated leather everything, going absolutely nowhere, chilling to some Mozart or Bach or Doobie Brothers, than be one of them.

Life is too short to declare war on everyone.

Yea but just think how fit he'd be...lol

I understand what you mean....but I dont drink/smoke or take coffee I might rarley (very rarely) take decaf, I do eat some sweet's, cake's but not nearly as much as I did.

I was on the bike today, but will be in the car later so I WILL put all your (greatfully recieved) answer's/suggestion's ect to practise....thanks.

Because like I say (as we all know) I'm not doing my health any good at all.

Don't know you mate, but I'm guessing you must have other issues in you're life before you hate driving to this extent!

I smoke 20+ a day and would class myself as being very partial to a pint or 12, I also drink silly amounts of coffee. This doesn't make me stressed out on the roads at all. Infact I'm maybe too laid back sometimes! I love my "new" car[see my other thread!] I really like my flat, and enjoy my job. So when I'm driving along, nothing gets to me, ever!

Sort out you head mate and just generally chill out, I'm sure you will.:)

Well I guess you are lucky Sheeplover that you are able to consume all that crap and still feel okay.

I would just say 'walk a mile in their shoes' before telling someone to chill out. None of us know what kind of stress Stulc could be under and we all react differently to stress.

Must be all the sheep lovin' that helps....;)

I'm well aware we don't know the stress he's under, hence the "I don't know you mate" :D

Hence the "other issues" comment. Must be something deeper than some fool trying to overtake you in the morning. :D

Like I said as well, hope the problems are resolved and he can continue to enjoy his car & more importantly, driving it! :D

Yes it is thing's that have happened over many years, I know I'm not the only one who suffer's this, and everyone has their own way of dealing with it, I just haven't found mine yet.

I will seek profeshional (spelling) help....but allmost everytime I'm out (in the car) there's hardly ever a journey (long or short) that doesn't end with me cursing at someone for doing something.

Dont get me wrong, I know I'm not perfect by a ****** long shot, but this behaviour is going to land in trouble either seriously health wise or giving "abuse" to the wrong driver (or both!) and that'll be that.

Mike.

Thanks Mike. That was bugging me as I didn't have time to google it.

I like the saying because it reminds me that as I get stressed at other people I am often stressing them in ways I don't realise......

true

True enough I wasnt really serious, plus it would probabbly make you crash! how about gestalt therapy, I found it to be very effective. (of course this wasnt for road rage!);)

I agree.
I find people are a lot more likely to cut me up, beep or push in when I drive my flashy AMG. When I'm in the 200TE, which is silver, spotted with natural orange flakey bits, no one even bothers. In fact, they let you out, wave, smile and generally appear a lot more civil.
I also find forcing myself to smile, even when I'm angry or ****ed at someone, occasionally I'll even laugh - really deep down chuckles that are visibly noticeable to other road users - does the trick. It shows them you don't want a fight and you think it's funny that they do.
Having said that the iron bar in the glove box also works treats!!! - just kiddin.

This is very true where I live, always someone on my rear bumper in the SL, never get bothered in the V70R, though its much faster.

I came to terms with anger years ago, no one can make me angry whatever they do, I just back off and think that if they want to kill themselves, they are welcolome.

Are you implying I did?! ;)

Mike.

lol :)

I wasn't trying to imply anything - it was just bugging me that I didn't know who had originally said it despite the fact that I was very familiar with the quote.

("hell is other people" is the quote that Mike and I are referring to to those joining this thread midway through)

I had counscelling a while ago but to be honest I didnt get anything out it....I'd have been well going to the pub and talking to s stranger. But I do have family issue's too, I cant seem to "talk" anymore I just answer angrily with and nearly everything...again something I'm not proud of.

they know loads down the pub don't they...but strange how they are unable to help out..unlike this forum!

counselling works when YOU decide you need it. its then that you have admitted to yourself what the problem is and that you need to find the answer to it. As Lyn says, that is the way to find the problem which you may not have recognised yet!

soon as you do, that great black cloud will be away for ever!

still, give it all a go. doing nothing wont make it better, but doing something does...

think positive. it will work.

But I have been for councelling....that's why i said what I said, I got nothing out of it.

Oh...and whoever it was that suggested Diazepam...mmmm I know exactly what Littlebrooklyn mean's, I was on them and countless other's. But the bottom line is...I WILL NOT take any pill's ect if I can get through this through relaxation cbt ect ect.

I prefer natural remadies rather shoving pill's down my throat, that most doctor's are good at.....no thanks.

Sometimes you have to shop around to find the right councellor for you. Like you said in one of your earlier posts it can be just as easy to talk to a stranger in the pub, you don't need a qualification to be able to help someone :) I just think at times we need to talk to someone who is removed from the situation and can help us when we can't see the wood for the trees. People often think a councellor will be able to solve all their problems, when in fact all they really do is listen and guide you so that you find the answers to the problems yourself.

Good for you, I think it's terrible how dr's prescribe these kinds of meds like sweets. I have a lot of personal experince of being over prescribed these kinds of meds and it really is not the answer to anything.
