I've just had a D service done at the main dealers on my 2004 E320 CDI. They've reset the ASSYST service indicator and it shows "Service C due in 12424 miles". How random is that? Is this what normally happens i.e. a 'non round' number. Previously, on my E240, the service indicator reset to 10,000 miles after a service.

Just wondering.

Oops! Just noticed the 'no technical threads on here' posting. Sorry!

I think a figure of 13k has been mentioned in other threads if the right oil and filter has been used. Perhaps they took it for a 576 mile test drive to make sure there were no leaks:confused:

Yes, I reckon that's it. Well spotted. 12,242 = 20,000km give or take a few furlongs!

I'd convinced myself that the ASSYST had 'carried forward' some settings from the previous service period and added the miles to the new service interval!

I've done 120 miles since the ASSYST service indicator was reset and the due mileage of the next service hasn't changed at all. Perhaps it's too soon to see but it looks like it's going to countdown through exactly 12,242 miles to the next service. As previously stated my E240 used to start off at 10,000 miles to next service but by the time the next service was due it would typically have done 11,000 -12,000 miles so obviously something different is happening.
