I live in Canada. The regular service interval for a 2016 C300 is 20,000KM or 12 months. If after 12 months, I drive under 10,000 KM (since my last service) why would I need to service my car? Does synthetic oil degrade even if not used? What if I drive zero KM over the 12 month period, why would the Service A message come-up?

I get maintaining your car over x number of miles is a requirement. Aside from cashing in at least once per year, why put a time limit?

Since COVID kept me and most others locked-up, forcing neglect even toward personal healthcare, it makes no sense that car maintenance MUST be kept on a timed service interval.

Hello and welcome

Things wear out just by time, not just by miles, which is another reason there is the 12 month or 15k miles.

Having said that it used to be 24 months when on the old ASSYST system, so as long as it’s all in good condition you can choose to extend.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I had a similar decision to make when my annual service came up earlier this month \nd under COVID restrictions I had only covered 15,000 miles. I decided to have it serviced. Taking depreciation, insurance, road tax, fuel ETC into consideration it worked out at £2.20 per mile, 3.76 Canadian Dollars !! o_O
