Hi Guys,

I have had a good bonus from work and thus am toying with the idea of getting the brabus tuning pack fitted by my local Merc dealer while I still have warranty on the vehicle as it doesnt affect warranty.

What I want to know is has anyone had one of these fitted and how much difference did it make to performance etc?? It gives some 45bhp and takes torque up to 600nm according to figures from brabus and merc. Just for over £1000 it had best be VERY good!!!!

Anyone had any experience with these???

Cheers

Do they not have to be fitted before 18,000 miles or 2 years and even then the warranty is reduced from unlimited to 60,000 miles? That was the case last year.

I would get that in writing before spending a penny.

Brabus warranty

Your right Russ, I have the Brabus chip fitted and have the official MB warranty for the Brabus. It clearly states, must be fitted before 18,000 mile up to 2 years, you are then covered up to 60,000 miles or 3 years.

Not quite sure how GCL can use Brabus software! and even less sure that you will get
an extra 6 mpg overall. Surely the purpose of increasing the power is for performance which does not mix with economy.........

I am quite happy to pay the extra for a piece of kit that a: is fully guaranteed and b:
can be switched to another Merc.

Is it worth the £1000+ is what I am after knowing regardless of warranty etc???

by all accounts from what ive heard you'd be better off (financially and in power/economy gains) by getting a custom map rather than a generic 'plug and play' chip. Clive-cls seems very happy with his from gcl tuning!

Be careful though. I contacted my insurance company when I was looking at getting my Jag TDVI re-mapped - Admiral told me that they couldn't provide cover if I had this done. If I had a plug in chip they would cover me and my premium would go up by +/-20%.

Brabus

Diesel
On a 320 cdi NO

The car already has a 0-60 figure of 6.6 - 6.9 depending on who you believe.

Our Brabus is fitted to my wife's C 220 cdi ( she really wanted it ,honest) I have an E320 cdi which I find is more than adequate without any additional boost.

With a chief constable like you have in North Wales, I would save your cash to pay for those inevitable speeding fines.

Is that second, as in second hand ?
 Made me laugh, no I've not seen many ACPO members in second hand cars. It would save council tax payers money however so you could put that forward when you next get a council tax demand .
