Got it Malcolm.

Any recommendations as to the sealant type or is it off the dealer for the "BR00.45-Z-1064-01A sealant for dabbing"??

One other question - is this a treatment or a layer that goes under the existing seal?

Yes it goes under the existing seals.

I do not know where to get the sealer from any more, it should be non setting

Maybe the mercedes parts section can help, they use a wonderful one in my doors for the moisture barrier

Thanks very much Malcolm, that's exactly where the water is coming in, I shall have a look at that and keep my fingers crossed that I can get it sorted. Thanks again.

Now seen the water trails down the inside of the window so know I have a roof leak. Boot leak looks like its coming over the edge of the seals at the outer front edge of the boot. Might have to get in the boot and see from the inside!

Ive no leaks in the boot (not yet) but the water drips from the roof hinge behind the drivers seat onto the trim about six or seven inches above the carpet. Hoping have a go with Malcolm's fix once I can get car out of the garage again.

For the boot, it is always the seal under the window plus the seals round the C pillar, these must be sealed on the inside as well as the outside or the water runs down the outside and up into the inside, the reason why they leak is there are 3 welds of over lapping metal and the water runs down the edge of the weld, down under and up the other side.

Inside as well as outside? Is this the C pillar?

I don't recall seeing that in the fix that you did. Think it showed the C pillar being cleaned from the outside and the bottom of the windscreen one being done both sides.

Latest leak detection pics attached! One garden hose and kitchen paper..... hi tech me!

The paper shows where the water comes in - if you put your hand in you can feel that it is right forward where the boot edge seal seems to overlap the rear edge of the seals around the small rear window.

And are these drains?

If so, where do they lead?

Powerwash legacy - leaky SL350

New member here. Proud owner of beautiful 2003 SL350 since March this year. Recently took it the local handwash in Coventry for a freshen up, not realising Power hose is not a good idea! Well, found out 5 mins later that I had lost the central locking, boot release and top.... as per the many posts on this forum. (How I wish I had become a MBO member before these issues arose!).
It was due in to the Coventry Merc Garage for a full service a few days later and so I told them about the issues above too. They did the service but not the leak issues. They said they changed the 20 amp fuse a few times and it kept blowing (..... but I subsequently had a look and it looks OK to me, which didn't fill me with confidence). Instead they have quoted £2807 to replace the seals and the pump. Couple of angles on getting this done..... a) I only use the car infrequently so not keen to spend this much on the fix and b) they didn't seem very interested in spending time analysing what the issue actually was.
Well I am not good on DIY, so does anybody have any recommendations for a Merc mechanic/fanatic/garage near Coventry who I can pay to get this sorted?

I have a post in the DIY section on how to fix these leaks, all the new seals in the world will not help, it takes 1 hour at the most and £7 to make the boot water tight.

Ah well that would be a better price! Really appreciate the prompt response. I am not sure of my way around the site yet so haven't seen the DIY Section yet. Where do I go for this?
