The gear shift comes on its own, I know that as I have one sitting here, I will check later

Hi Andy.

Between Ashford and Tenterden. How much do you charge?

Hi Television.

Sorry to ask you for more, but Andy has offered me a very reasonable price for a STAR test, but i need to know if if it will just show a module failure or if it will identify the part you mentioned and if so is that available separately?
Is the isolator switch lock out a separate item from the module?

Many thanks,
Tim.

I have just been down to look and sadly all one lump and about £650, so you do need to be sure, I am having a look at the one here to see if the electric can be removed

I have the old one off your car, but a work of art to get it off, you could sell him that one, again if one can get it off

Hi Television.

Merc dealer said as i had the car serviced in the last 2 years their pick up service would collect the car FOC. Not to be as 2003 and not a 2004 car!

So the threat of £150 collection made me sit in it for nearly an hour before it started. It would then not go into gear. Let it warm up and started again, still wouldnt go into gear. 4th time lucky so drove it to dealers this afternoon. Started and went into gear each time i tried! They will put it on STAR tomorrow, but suspect the module.

Thank you very much for your kind help with this. I will let you know the final outcome and hope i have got you or Andy into any trouble!

Kind regards,
Tim.

If I took it off and sold it I would pass the money on, and that is me, I am making up a box of MB caps for you:D

Mercedes are saying it is a module (switch) behind where the key is that would also stop it selecting a gear. £418 plus VAT Then about 4 hours for fitting. Does this sound right?

With thanks,
Tim.

I do not know what that could be, there is no steering lock on a 230 plus I have only ever seen the gearbox ECU and ABC ECU up there

EIS perhaps, but 4 hours to fit is several times too much.
