Hi all, I get a puff of smoke on start-up now and again, especially when the car has been standing. I believe it is the oil seals on the end of the valve stems, which harden with age. Anyone know if this is likely and how difficult it is to replace them? I guess it's a job for a dealer/specialist? Regards, Peter

Never known it on that engine could be from the turbo/compressor

One thing i have seen in the past is the rocker covers leak and oil runs down into the plug holes this could cause a little bit of smoke on start up

Thanks all, would you know it - it hasn't done it since and I don't seem to be using oil. Regards, Peter.
