I would appreciate any suggestions as to how I remove crusted black gunk off the chrome tail pipes. I have tried Autoglym,Chrome polish etc. without much success.

If I can get them clean again, is there anything I can put on the chrome to stop this reoccurring?

Internally, I use a dremmel with a brass wire brush bit. Some fine lapping paste. Externally, Duraglit wool on a piece of flat steel. Theres not a lot of room around the rear skirt.

use a degreaser on it first. let it soak in for a bit, then wipe it off with a wet cloth.

then polish up with a metal polish :)
