Hi Gents, having taken the words of wisdom on this forum, my search for the perfect CLS (changed from 320cdi to 55 AMG) is still ongoing. In the meantime I have spied a SLK 200 AMG (171) 2005 model, low mileage, and a fair few extras ie command/PDC etc, for SWMBO, just wanted to know if there was any major issues to look out for. Have searched the forum, roofs and boot struts seem to be a popular niggle.
Advice appreciated as always. :)

They are a good car and very few problems with roofs and struts I would have said, the rear arches seem to be holding up much better than the 170.

The boss has had a 2005 SLK200K for nearly 3 years and it has been a joy to own. Only problem was on ESP which was traced to a steering angle sensor and now cured. I have to admit I thought I wouldn't like it (bit hairdresser etc!) but I absolutely love it to, it is just one of those motors that puts a big grin on your face, I know everyone will say you need a 280/350 or AMG but the little 4 with the Komp just suits the motor and its good on juice to! :p

Not the same as the 170,, mind you I have seen many dogs loose in 170's running all over the seats, the other thing is never kneel in the squab

Yes, done many heated pads, least they are all different bits, there is three just in the base, As Malc has said tho, watching people and kids kneeling on the base of the seat, quickest way to kill a seat pad.........
