Hi all
We (read as my wife!!) like the look of the SLK 230, and I am wondering if this is a practical vehicle for shopping, holidays etc is the boot big enough for a suit case or two, this would be our only vehicle but I don't need a car for traveling to work so it would be a weekend car.It would be have to be an early model but there seem to be some nice ones around with lowish miles and full merc hostory for 5k.
Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated
Thanks Ian

I think that first you should take your suit cases around to a dealer that has one and see if they fit for starters

Also check that the blocker has been put into the loom, otherwise you could be looking at a large bill for a engine wiring harness!

In this case the PSE pump should also be checked for water damage and the mod fitted

Good morning all and thanks for the help and infomation so far, would the blocker have been fitted on a recall or on a fix it if it breaks, I presume that this will be shown on the service history if it has had this mod fitted.
Cheers

Anything done by MB will be recorded, and only the branch that did any work will normally say what has been done.

Many thanks TV. Ours is down on power although it seems to run fine and I'm not sure if it's the MAF - original is nearly 10 years old. I can't see any oil leaks from around the top front of the engine. Where would I expect to see any leak from the CAM shaft seal?

If yours is 10 years old, then i dont think it will have the leaking cam adjuster, early ones didnt have that faulty adjuster fitted!!!

Would you say the MAF is suspect?

At 10 years old it sounds like it's probably worth replacing.

I've got an '01 SLK230.
It's reliable and an absolute pleasure; It drives like a dream - I love it.
The folding roof is brilliant, it really adds to the enjoyment of the car.

We've done some long tours on the Continent, it's on trips like these where the SLK really comes into it's own as it's also a very comfortable car. My girlfriend has more than adequate space for copious luggage, and she doesn't understand the concept of 'small suitcase'. On the return trip we always manage to fit in a couple of dozen bottles of refreshment as well, no problem.

Buy one and enjoy it.
