Can anyone recommend the best way of insuring a SLK. I have a Mondeo that I use daily and the SLK will be for weekend use, so a restricted mileage of 3k per year would be ideal. I have never had to insure two cars at once and am unsure how best to do this.

Hi,
I have a SLK and use it everyday, I insure it with Direct Line and its actually cheaper than the BMW I previously owned.

If you're only running limited mileage it may be worth looking at one of the Classic type insurers, if you search for insurance in these forums there have been lots of previous mentions of good brokers.

Just to say that I had trouble getting someone to insure my SLK320. Direct Line, Churchill and Privelage wouldn't insure the car without a tracking device fitted (over a grand!) even though it has a Thatcham (who!) approved class 1 Mercedes alarm fitted. So be careful

I insured my '99 SLK 230 through elephant.co.uk.

They where cheaper than Tesco, direct line and the rest and I didn't need to have a tracker fitted! I claimed for a windscreen on my last car and didn't have any trouble at all with them.

You can get a quote online, which is worth doing - it might just save you some money.

I got a quote from them last year for my C-class and they were a hundred quid more than Direct Line, so obviously it depends who and where you are. And the moral of that is, there's no one place that is always cheapest, so shop around, always get several quotes.

I insure my 2001 SLK320 with esure for £340 (in London). They were the cheapest I could find, but you need a clean record. No tracker required.

I found my SLK insurance at insuresupermarket.co.uk

If they say the name of the insurance company is hidden, it's AXA, who were my cheapest (600 odd with 2 named drivers) - I'm only 26 though so next price break is a few years away :)
