I'm looking at aftermarket wind deflectors as the standard kind of blocks your vision. There are a few listed on ebay the clear perspex type the look like they velcro to the roll bars. Was hoping to find a more quality fit i.e. some tpye of bold on bracket affair that could maybe even be left in place all the time. Does anyone know if such a thing exsists and if so can you point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for your help.

We had one of the perspex / velcro items off ebay in our last SLK. The really good news was that the visability was great compared to the standard fit cloth item. The bad news is that it moved in the wind and drove me mad with the ever changing reflection, however MrsC thought it was wonderful and wants one for the new SLK.

I paid about £30 and the quality was fairly poor, but it looked ok and did the job.

One alternative is to get a car as fast SLinkjoe's then it does not matter what is behind you.

Ha tried that 2 years ago on my ZZR120O got done at an average of 94mph by an unmarked BMW M3! it's just not cricket. Still just as well they never caught me 2 miles back up the road think the avaerage would have been about 170!

i did attempt to make one for the R170 and it hummed at most speeds. was pretty rubbish really.

the new R171 has a decent one as an extra, altho with some pushing they dealers throw them in. then the net one never comes out of the bag. its fit is quite good, but i doubt it will take full speed with the roof down.

The standard MB glass deflector is in 3 parts with 2 outer parts fitting into the headrest holes and holding the centre glazed section - very neat. Fitted in 10 mins.
The £471 Limited Edition deflector fits the same way but has SLK Limited Edition 1 of 1171 engraved on it
