slk230k fuel filter

Hi all,new ot the forum & have a minor problem!! wifes 98 slk need a fuel filter changing apparently! I've got the filter,but can I find where to stick it !!! no not there!
where should it go can't see any location under the bonnet,is it by the tank or such like?

Jack up the rear of the car and it's there to be seen, just one thing I would advise replacing the clips (# 23 in Malcolm's picture) I changed the filter on my wife's car and the clips were not in a good condition to be re-used
