Evening all,

Wildman was experiencing some problems at the meet which he may or may not have mentioned but on the way back it got worse. (I am posting cos he hasn't got net access until the weekend so hopefully there'll be some response by then.)

Basically, he fueled up with Esso 97RON just by the Haynes museum. From that point on, he started experiencing a problem in that when he accelerated hard sometimes it didn't want to play (it would change down but the power was missing), whilst at other times it was fine. Dodgy fuel? MAF sensor problem?

No MAF on these, so it's not that!! Possibly the intercooler pump, possibly bad fuel, possibly supercharger clutch wiring. Get the fault codes read. My money is on the pump. Fault code will read 'intake air temperature implausible'. Be aware that many main dealers do not know about this fault, and how to fix it. It won't bring on a dash light. Find a good independent specialist with AMG knowledge. This fault cropped up recently on here, and a good independent was found who sorted it. Do a search...

Now I just need to find a decent independent. Darren; I think you emailed me one near-by didn't you?

I'll check my emails. Still not internet at home (end of June!) but work have this funky little internet cafe!

I'll give Merc a call in Epsom otherwise and at least get the fault codes read.
