I am looking for a smart car, but I am having difficulty finding a non MHD version. I have driven stop/start cars and don't like them. Is there a way to turn this off or a way of keeping it runnning at traffic lights etc.

I've seen a work around for the MHD stop/start on Evilution https://www.evilution.co.uk/mod/mhd-eco-off-at-start.htm?highlight=stop start but the general consensus is to avoid the MHD version like the plague https://www.evilution.co.uk/mod/mhd-belt-failure.htm?highlight=mhd .

I bought the 84bhp turbo version :)

Zero road tax, the power works really well with the box and excellent fool economy
£30 a year for road tax is OK by me ... and I get a massive 84bhp!! lol
Fuel economy is almost 50mpg which is plenty ;)

It‘s all about the torques… ;)

I was going to go for the 84bhp petrol, tried a few and none drove as well as the cdi, so I went with that instead. It’s been an excellent car over the 11 years and nearly 50k miles I’ve had it.

Yes, it is finding one in my area. I have been looking for over a month now. Autotrader, Ebay Gumtree, facebook market place etc. I have not even looked at one physically yet. I have seen Brabus, but either too old or something else. Finding a non MHD of of good year seems to be impossible.

I did not realize that they had an on/off switch. But still aviod them???
but as per Evil's website, the damage is done whether you switch the stop/start on or off, it's to do with how tight the 'fan belt' is.

... and power steering was an option & not many have it ..... it could be argued that as they so small you don't need it. I wanted it & looked for a car with it plus flappy paddles

Thank you. My wife's SLK had flappy paddles, but they were never used. I will look at the options.

Flappy paddles on a Smart transform the driving experience for the better.
My Roadster has them and it's an absolute hoot.
In auto mode it's no fun and using the stick is awkward by comparison to the paddles.
