Well there is still a small chance it’s stuck somewhere, but the officer advised that the type of camera it was is Instant.
It was one of those newer looking skinny ones , not sure what they are called ?

It's the new model Truvelo CCM (Cops Cash Machine) :(:D

That applies to all speed cameras imho, we should have the best roads in the world, with the revenue they bring in .

Used to have a C63...
Hope it's a non starter, as the hire company will also slap on an admin fee for processing the information!

I was racing to hospital where my wife was in intensive care last summer and was suddenly confronted by a police van with a camera pointing straight at me. No summons has ever appeared, but I know I was extremely lucky. Sometimes good things happen.

I don’t wish to upset anyone, but it all depends on how efficient the hire company are in sending on the documents to you. :(

In a 15 mile journey into Portsmouth last week, I came across two camera vans. At the first one, an oncoming tractor had flashed me so I was behaving and the second one was in traffic and the car in front was only doing 30mph. Could have been unlucky and picked up 6 points in one morning.

Actually you are correct there Steve, they have 14 days to get the notification to the owner of the car which in this case is the Hire Company :(

Actually, that is not entirely true. The term in the Legislation is 'served' [on the owner] which, in Legalise, means entered into the Postal system. i.e. Someone put it into a Post Box.

Not that we have had Postal Strikes in recent decades but, such would account for the terminology. There is an assumption 'in Law', that once something enters the Postal System [correctly addressed], then it will arrive at it's destination. Yeah right!

However, I'd agree that the OP is now probably clear of any worries.

Well I am pleased to inform it’s been almost 4 weeks now, and I’ve not heard anything.
I think this little scare has done the trick though, as I am a lot more careful of speed limits especially in areas I’m not familiar with.
One thing I have noticed is , there is a 4mph difference between what my speedometer is saying and what my satnav is reading ?
This seems quite a large difference, I’m driving an 18 plate transit custom , and have a very new Tom Tom satnav.

It's not unusual to find a 10% xdifferedi between indicated and actual speed.
Legally your speedometer cannot read a lower speed than actual but can read a higher speed.
Most manufacturers err on the side of caution and deliberately over state the speed so as to make it difficult if not impossible to have an under reading speedometer.
Speedometer indicated speeds are also derived from the rotation of the wheel. Tyre pressure, wear and size all have a bearing on this so again manufacturers are conservative.
Finally GPS is not 100% accurate as signals can be reflected and refracted around abjects impacting their accuracy.
Basic GPS accuracy is generally held to be 95% within a 2m radius. Navigation systems hide this by "locking" location to a road in the map. Furthermore a GPS will give incorrect speed readings on hills or rolling terrain as GPS vertical (Z) resolution is not as good as the X and Y resolution.

I think the enforcement agencies have longer to contact you if you were in a hire/lease vehicle and the 14 day rule doesn’t apply.

According to the authorities, these are sent out almost straight away, I think it would be fair to say the hire company would be Negligent in not processing straight away.

Only thing is that the police have no onus to prove you received it, only that they sent out in a timely manner

The police don’t care how long the hire company take. Just the 14 day rule doesn’t apply. :(
