At last, something free from Mercedes Benz…

The sports suspension settings can be “enabled” without resorting to a STAR machine.

Extract from Mercedes Benz dealer procedural document MB.2887.443.AVE1:

“To enable sports suspension package carry out the following procedure:

1. Close all doors, insert key and turn to no. 2 position – do not start engine.
2. Ensure the radio is off.
3. Open and close glovebox three times.
4. Operate auto-fold door mirrors, one sequence* - fold in, fold out.
*If manual folding mirrors are fitted, have an assistant fold them – in the following order: offside in, nearside in, nearside out, offside out.
5 Lower all windows.
6. Press and hold preset 1 on the radio whilst sounding the horn three times.
7. Adjust interior mirror, thus activating the driver height calculating function which, together with the weight sensor in the seat squab, will optimise suspension settings for the current driver.
8. To retain settings, press and hold down horn whilst returning ignition to 0 and removing key.

Repeat procedure, pressing preset 2 (in item 6.) on the radio for a second driver.

Suspension settings can be optimised for up to four drivers using the above procedure.

Suspension setting preset by different drivers will, in some models, be automatically changed by the interior mirror’s face recognition function, otherwise selection of preset settings will be established by driver’s weight /interior mirror position.”

Who says Mercedes haven’t thought of everything…:D

Small question regarding step 4.
For those with autofold mirrors where the mirrors stick - a common problem. If a friend assists pulling the mirror in and out as you complete this cycle, will their weight be added to the drivers' in the system's calculations, requiring your friend to accompany you on all journeys- or can you remove them from the calculation using the normal 6 downward flicks of the cruise control stalk?

....yes you can providing you have taken into account the number of hill starts, or better still square the hypotenuse (to verify check the Russian MB parts listing page C270-03 section 2 subsection 005) or use this formula sin/30 + cos0.5>pie r squared to the power of 010409:p

I've tried this, but it doesn't seem to work..I seem to not have the driver height option (step 7) on my car.
Can I get this activated by an indie, or do I need to visit a main dealer?

Anyone off down to Kew to have their voice sampled?
Apparently they're looking for the perfect voice to play to plants to encourage their growth.

I'm particularly excited by Bristol University's discovery that using special kinetic capture technology you can capture enough energy from a carp, swimming up a 1/4m mile stream, to boil 17 kettles.
The scientific progress made around this time of year is staggering. Must be something to do with spring.
I'm off to get a pond liner. Self-sufficency here I come.

Might be worth giving your local MB dealer a ring...
Don't be fobbed off with underlings, make sure you speak to the service manager. Less experienced staff will probably not have heard of this procedure.
I love the sensation, when carrying out item 8), when the car settles into it's "sports mode" ride height.

Did Gillian Taylforth not have simpler procedure for this, carried out entirely within the vehicle, IIRC?:confused::rolleyes:
