Sprinter 412d engine rattle (video attached)

Hi. We have a sprinter 412d 16 seat mini bus. there is alot of rattling coming form the engine. we have had the rocker cover off and cant see anything that is loose. I've video'd the engine running and switching on and off hoping someone could advise.

Hi,

It is a bit hard to tell from the video but it possibly could be the timing chain tensioner or possibly the chain guide or chain pad could be broken or the chain has stretched.

How many miles has the engine done?

hi jack many thanks for replying.

We have now had it evaluated and it seems the problem is actually the gear box. This has been taken out and sent to a reconditioner for evaluation and price depending on how much they are asking we also have the option of buying a second hand gear box. Ive been quoted £275.00 for this, does that seem reasonable??

Yeah that dosen't seem a bad price, just out of curiosity did the noise stop when you pressed the clutch?
