Warning lights should have no bearing on MOT. They test actuals (like brake efficiency etc). They certainly do NOT test whether the airbags will deploy! The SRS light being on means that the airbags are probably disabled. Fine if nothing hits you, but you do need them fixed for the added protection they give you.

I have no doubt that an airbag saved me from very serious injury a few years ago. Had a burned nose and a broken thumb (standard airbag injuries), but it definitely would have been worse without it... Get it fixed, even though the MOT won't care about it!

good question. I would guess at no (I stress this is only a guess). As airbags are an optional extra and not all cars have them then I guess they are not checked as part of the MOT.

The ABS light does, I don't know about the SRS light.

Even though we now have belt tensioners operated by the SRS system, only the belts are checked for the MOT, not the SRS.

Driver airbags are now compulsory by law so this might have changed with the new computer style test. Best bet is to phone a testing station and ask.

Probably best to get it sorted mind. This happened on my Saab 95 and it was the steering wheel electronic connector that had failed - only cost a few quid to put right.

My Alfa Spider has a plate on it which says it wants the airbag gas generator checked (how?) when it is ten years old. My MB doesn't give me any instructions!

Mine varies on the w220 sometimes it's on sometimes it's not, hooked the star diagnostics up to it and said child seat sensor so I presume when lit it disables the passenger airbag as the child seat sensor is giving trouble, only the wife sits there ;-)

A Citroen ZX I had stated in the manual that the airbags and seat belt tensioners should be replaced at 10yrs old. Wonder how many have been done

Thankfully never having an airbag deploy on me , I have often wondered where does the plastic cover go when it does deploy?
Yeah I know strange question but it has crossed my mind from time to time:confused:
Have visions of sitting there with the plastic cover in my mouth;)
