Hi,
I'm pulling my hair out here,
No-one seems to know what they are doing other than giving advice on guessing rather than facts.
SRS light r12/14 to high,
For a start there is no seat met in the drivers seat, the srs connectors are yellow not blue so I'm informed, tried a magic chip from poland to eliminate the mat that did not work,
Poland tells me its the clockspring in the steering Colum, Not sure how to check that, do not waste your time taking apart the center consul to check airbag module as no way there can be a bad connection there.
So to be honest no-one has a clue what is wrong, I have even purchased my own code reader to reset codes but this is getting stupid not even mercedes gives the right answers.
My suggestion is replace relays, then move onto the clockspring, check connections on every part of airbag wiring,
The only advice is do not post any kind of guess work because it does cost people money chasing the wrong action to take, facts only!

Sorry, I don't really understand your post, "SRS light r12/14 to high"does not make sense to me.

On my 2004 R230 SL55 the SRS warning light came on because the seat belt catch was faulty. MB read the codes and advised I replace it. That cleared the fault and no more trouble.

So you need to find someone who can read the codes. You need a good local Mercedes independent specialist. MB don't really want to know these cars nowadays, they don't have the experience of them. (Although I am fortunate I have a good dealership who do want to help).

Non of it is making sense we have virtually taken it completely apart and have loads of photo's from the code reader.
We will try seat belts tomorrow and see what happens there.

What code reader are you using?
A or of generic ones can lead up the (expensive) garden path...

Sorry I think you need Star for this, it is not plain sailing even with Star, even after we replaced the seat belt catch, codes for the SRS module came up, and it only settled down after a few days. MB advised we replace the SRS module initially, which would have been several hundred quid, I said "no", let it settle down, and sure enough the SRS light went out and stayed out. SRS light is an MOT failure, unfortunately. I wish you well, this can be a real pain to sort out.

Hmmm, that probably said it all.
Do yourself a favour Keith and get an Indy with Star or equivalent to scan this, those cheaper scanner don't give you the answer you need.

I’d suggest having it put on star and once reading the codes then going into the affecting modules to check the live values against the set parameters, that way you can diagnose the issue rather than guessing.
Even Mercedes “specific” readers by third parties get these things wrong and throw up spurious codes leading you down the wrong path

Update and you will love this one,
So grabbed a multi meter and started by removing the draw (5 tx screws) under the passenger seat rather than remove the whole seat (much easier) then went to work checking each wire.
No joy so thought lets remove the steering wheel airbag and check the ground bingo! faulty airbag,
Run to local breakers yard purchased and airbag from a clk £25 bargain.
NOW READ THIS VERY IMPORTANT PART/
1. Disconnect the battery in the boot
2. DON'T BE AN IDIOT LIKE ME AND SHUT THE BOOT WITH BATTERY NOT CONNECTED AS YOU MIGHT NOT GET BACK IN AS THE KEY DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK! REPEAT DO NOT SHUT THE BOOT LID!
So now fit the airbag then scratch head how to get into the boot?
No manual release? Have no jump leads to maybe put power to the car somewhere?
Yes you have guessed it smash rear high level boot brake light as crap one from china £30 quid.
Moral of this story do not read threads on all these so called problems start with a simple cash free test of the drivers airbag!
No matter what codes are coming up just start with the airbag.
All codes clear now just have to wait for new light. phew

Just to say you would have got that from STAR too when looking at live values ;) :p
