My 1997 C180 engine has to be turned a second time sometimes to get it started, why I don't know. If I hold the key a bit longer in 2nd position, it will start easier. Can this be a fuel pump or filter problem? Never a 3rd time, usually 1st or 2nd and it will start. Its got 224000kms on the clock. The other car is a 198000kms 1994 C180 and it starts like a dream because I changed the fuel pump and filter in 2002. I have used a newer high power battery and its still the same, so its not the battery. Thanks mates.

sounds like low fuel pressure - so with a recent pump - i would guess filter - or posibly the pressure regulator - possibly 000 078 18 89 about 50 US $ (i only have the US epc which doesnt have the 180 - only the 220 / 230)
