I am looking for any ideas that my be causing this. Occasionaly when I try to start the car it turns over for a second or less then stops, sometimes it will do it several times in a row, sometimes it will start on the second go. This problem occurs if the engine is hot or cold, or if the weather is dry or wet. I had it fixed once under warranty 18 months ago, they put it down to the "ME board" which was replaced, although they admitted this was only a guess as they could not reproduce the fault. The car is a '97 C240. Anyone got an ideas??

Thanks.

POOR START

Hi

Sounds like the usual 112 engine problem, it can usually be identified by listening to the engine while starting, if it has a squeaky hi pitch tone you need to apply some special "starter ring grease" only takes about 10 minutes on a ramp.

poor starting

Thanks piestore, hopefully you have got me moving in the right direction. I have just turned the car over and it does have that high pitch squeal you mentioned. Funny, i had noticed it before and hadnt given it a thought as it has been there since i bought the car.
