Anybody got the answer to this one? My 87 300SL automatic gearbox is leaking transmission fluid. At first is looked like the oil pan gasket which I changed along with the ATF and filter. It's still leaking and I have traced it to the Control Pressure Limit Valve (plastic thing on R/H side with a cable and vac pipe attached. The valve seems to simply plug into the box and I see from the parts diagram that there is a sealing ring which may be coursing the leak. Does anybody know if I can simply push the valve up and out of the box to change the seal or is there an internal coupling that will prevent this. Any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

removing kickdown bung

got the same trouble with my 190e auto box. Got a spare box and ive undone two allan key bolts that are either side of the plastic bung. Once i took them out i prised the bung away with a screwdriver either end of it. it is quite stubburn to prise away but it will come eventually. There is an o-ring around the bung that needs replacing. It is not connected inside the box, its a small piston that is attached to the bung.
